We have recently moved and as we don't yet know any of our neighbours our children were unable to celebrate halloween by dressing up all spooky and horrible and doing the usual 'TRICK OR TREAT'. So..... I baked them some halloween goodies instead.
A dark chocolate mud cake, filled and iced with pumpkin (yes pumpkin) buttercream icing. This has got to be one of the yummiest icings. Decorated with a spooky haunted house surrounded by flying bats and a full moon, a ghost saying boo, some dead grass and halloween pumpkins.
When I cut the domed top off a cake I usually ice it for the children as an afternoon snack when they come home from school. As I was icing away I came up with the idea of making it into a Jack O Lantern.
And some little ghost cake balls.
