On Sunday we celebrated my son's 7th birthday. I created this three tiered wonky robot cake for him... Dark chocolate and white chocolate mudcakes, layered and iced in dark chocolate ganache and metallic fondant. Decorated with a metallic No.7 and James. Topped with a spray of metallic balls and a handmade little fondant robot. My son giggled and giggled when he saw the cake.

I created this cake for a friend who was throwing a baby shower for a friend. I also created matching invitations with matching envelope wrap water bottle labels and matching chocolate wraps TraceyXI made these cake balls for my daughters' school to sell to raise funds for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea. They are made with white chocolate Victoria Sponge cake and buttercream frosting rolled into balls then dipped in white chocolate. They tasted divine! I decorated the cake balls with fondant daffodils, edible images of The Biggest Morning Tea's tea cup, yellow sugar crystals and blue sprinkles. Close up of the daffodil cake ball. ... and with the left over cake balls I created DISCO CAKE BALLS. Decorated in edible glitter and the letter "N". My eldest daughter is going to a friend's house on the weekend for her birthday and is taking these DISCO CAKE BALLS with her. "N" is the first letter of the birthday girls name. Tracey xI created this giant cupcake for my sister in law's birthday. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY VANESSA" Chocolate cake soaked in raspberry sugar syrup, layered with my signature buttercream icing and iced with raspberry flavoured fondant. Decorated with pink & silver flowers and a pink & silver butterfly all finished off with a shimmer of lustre. Oh and the dark chocolate patty case. YUM!!! YUM!!! I created this cake for a clients brother who is joining the police force. I found a couple of policeman images on the internet and this is the one she chose. Chocolate cake iced in buttercream and royal icing. These little mini cakes were created with the offcuts from the policeman cake. Chocolate cake iced in a swirl of blue buttercream icing and topped with a matching policeman hat edible image. Last night my daughter made her confirmation. Earlier on in the week I asked her what kind of cake she would like. Her answer - blue and yellow (her dad is a Parramatta Eels supporter) and it had to be blueberry flavoured. I baked a marbled lemon-blueberry cake layered and iced in lemon buttercream icing then finished off with blueberry flavoured fondant. I decided to try something a little different for this cake and made letters spelling out Ellen's name and had then hanging from swirled wires along with little blue & yellow flowers attached to spiralling wires (I loved this however, I took the photo at the wrong angle so it doesn't show up as effective as in real life). I didn't want the cake to be too churchy looking so I made a simple cross attached to a fluted circle cutout and finished off with a matching blue flower. Whilst discussing with Ellen what sort of cake she wanted my eldest daughter pointed out that I didn't make her a confirmation cake. So I decided to surprise her with one (only 6 years too late). I made creme brulee cupcakes (one of her all time favourite desserts), topped with the most scrumptious brown sugar swiss meringue buttercream icing. The cupcakes were then decorated to match Ellen's confirmation cake. A circle of caramelized brown sugar, topped with circle cutouts spelling out Claire's name and blue and yellow flowers. She loved them.
Tonight was our last dinner with my sister in law, her husband and two beautiful boys. Tomorrow they leave for Ireland. It is extremely sad as we will miss them so much but wish them all our love and luck for their future in Ireland. I baked them an Aussie Lamington cake topped with an edible Australian Flag and a little kangaroo and sign that read "GOODBYE & GOODLUCK WE WILL MISS YOU" Subscribe to WISH BIG Subscribe to WISH BIG to receive regular updates via email. Yesterday we celebrated St Patrick's Day. Normally we venture into the parade in Sydney but this year was to be our last with relatives that are heading back over to Ireland to live (and will be sadly missed) so we thought an Irish/Aussie BBQ in their backyard would be the best way to celebrate. I created a few little things for our St Patrick's Day celebration... For the children I purchased white singlets from target, printed some little verses and St Patrick's Day pictures on t-shirt transfers and ironed them onto each singlet (each verse was relative to each child). I also created little green tutu's for the girls. The verses were - "irish magic" "party irish all trouble" "worlds yummiest leprechaun" "born in ireland" "i'm so cute i must be irish" "i'm a lucky charm" "official delivery" "not only am i perfect, i'm irish too" "leprechaun in training" "the leprechaun made me do it" They all looked so cute in their matching St Patrick's Day outfits, especially the tutu's Click here for instructions on how to make a tutu. It was really quick and easy. For the children's dessert table i made mini chocolate cupcakes iced in chocolate icing and decorated with shamrocks, orange sprinkles and green and orange spots. ... and for the adults dessert table I made a scrumptious grasshopper cheesecake, finished off with baileys ganache, after dinner mints, green shamrocks and a sprinkling of orange sprinkles. On Saturday we held our daughter's 5th birthday party. The theme was H20 - just add water - mermaid party (from the TV show) so I created everything to match this theme. If you have been following my blog you would have already seen the invitations I created. (make sure you keep reading - there are free downloads at the end of this blog!!!) The cake... The mermaids are Emma, Cleo and Ricky from the TV show H2O just add water. Our whole family loves watching this show. Kids party table... blue mermaidade, lollypops, blue jelly beans, H2O (bottles of water), fresh fruit salad, corn relish dip with dixie drumsticks (these look like fish), mermaid milk chocolate. There was also pearly bite cookies (cookies which were supposed to look like a clam shell with a pearl inside) and yoghurt covered saltanas. blue mermaidade - lemonade with powdered blue powerade. I made matching cup wraps printed with each child's name. . Dinner for the kids... tempura battered chicken chips, crumbed fish pieces and a bake at home. Birthday cake for dessert along with the best ever sticky date pudding made by my sister in law. Table centrepiece... I had wanted to make a lollytoppot (a candy topiary) wth blue candy however I ran out of time so this was a quick fix. Eyecatching lollypops surrounded by blue jelly beans. I think these were the first to go. Mermaid milk chocolates... Furry Friends chocolates wrapped in foil then in my matching chocolate wraps which I also created. Take home lolly bags... I made the lolly bags to look a little like bon bons. Inside were lollies and beach themed items such as a thong note book with matching smelly highlighter and hibiscus hair clips. They were wrapped in cristinare paper which matched the invitation envelopes, tied at each end with raffia and finished off with matching personalised stickers which read "thank you for coming to my party. Anna XX" I had lots of decorations planned however the weather could not make up it's mind - should I storm, or should I be a perfect sunny day so I was not sure if I should set decorations up inside or out. So I didn't do either. Luckily it was a perfect day, perfect for swimming which is pretty much all the kids did all day.
